Rabbi Daniel Z. Stein is proud to serve as the spiritual leader of Bnai Abraham Synagogue in Easton, Pennsylvania. Prior to assuming the pulpit at Bnai Abraham, Rabbi Stein was a student at the Jewish Theological Seminary of America, where, in addition to being ordained as a rabbi, he completed a masters degree in Jewish Literature. As a rabbinical student, Rabbi Stein served congregations in Middletown, New York and the Bronx. He was also a Legacy Heritage Foundation Rabbinic Fellow, serving the Jewish community of Tallahassee, Florida. Additionally, while at JTS, he was the recipient of academic prizes in Homiletics, Jewish Theology and Thought. During his graduate studies, Rabbi Stein was also a visiting student at the Goldreich Family Institute for Yiddish Language at Tel Aviv University and completed advanced level ulpan at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He is also an alumnus of YIVO’s Uriel Weinrich Program in Yiddish Language, formerly at Columbia University.
Rabbi Stein is also an accomplished musician. Prior to his studies at the Jewish Theological Seminary, Rabbi Stein completed his undergraduate degree in music history at the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati. He has performed as a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist in a variety of settings; in 2007-2008, he was a member of the choir at Jerusalem’s Great Synagogue. Rabbi Stein can occasionally be seen playing clarinet, banjo, and keyboards as part of Rooftops, a folk/bluegreass band whose first CD was released this past February.
Rabbi Stein, a native of Toledo, Ohio, is an alumnus of the Stone Hebrew Academy and Sylvania Southview High School. He attended Camp Wise, the overnight camp of the Cleveland JCC, for 10 Summers, first as a camper and later as a staff member. In his final summer at Camp Wise, Rabbi Stein was the director of Jewish programming and served as a liaison to the Foundation for Jewish Camp and the Avi Chai Foundation. He has also served on the staff of Camp Ramah in Canada, and was music director of Camp Ramah Darom in Clayton, Georgia. For the past two summers, Rabbi Stein has served as a consultant to the new Ramah Outdoor Adventure Camp in Deckers, Colorado, where he worked as part of a team preparing the staff for their first summer.
Daniel is married to Dena Stein, a project manager at Jewish Education Service of North America.

Rabbi Emeritus Mark Shrager has been a Rabbi at Bnai Abraham for seventeen years and will always be an honored Rabbi and member of the BAS family.

Cantor Robert Weiner
Cantor Weiner has been BAS Cantor since taking over for Cantor Morris Seigel in the 80's. We are currently writing a biography of Cantor Weiner for BAS and it will be posted here in the next few weeks.

Dr. Robert I. Weiner has been Professor at the Thomas Roy and Lura Forrest Jones - Department of History at Lafayette College for over 40 years.
