Broadway Theatre Trip - WAR HORSE!
Winner of 5 Tony Awards in 2011
- Best Play, Best Direction, Best Scenic Design
- Best Lighting Design, Best Sound Design
- Special Tony Award to Handspring Puppet Company.
WAR HORSE travels from the verdant English countryside to the fields of France and Germany at the outbreak of World War I. A boy’s beloved horse has been sold to the cavalry and shipped to France. Caught up in enemy fire, the horse serves on both sides of the war, and survives an odyssey that leaves him alone in no-man’s land.
WAR HORSE is a magnificent drama, filled with stirring music and beautiful songs. But it is more than just a compelling tale. This is a show of indescribable grandeur and sheer inventiveness -- perhaps the most magical production ever staged for the Beaumont. There are breathing, galloping, charging horses on the stage - their flanks, hides and sinews built of steel, leather and aircraft cables. They are life-size puppets strong enough for men to ride. And that’s just one element of this imaginative epic.

BAS New Upcoming Fundraiser: “Buy Local” Campaign
We will be soliciting local small businesses to give Bnai Abraham a small percentage of the sales from Synagogue members who identify themselves as such at the time of purchase. We will list all participating merchants in the Bulletin on a tear-out card which you can carry in your wallet as a reminder.
According to ‘Buy Local Philly’, three times as much money stays in the local economy when you buy goods and services from locally owned businesses instead of large chains. This campaign can definitely spread some goodwill from our Bnai community to the heart of the area business community.
If you know of any business that would or should participate, please contact Judy Walker at judithwlkr@gmail.com. We will have a soliciting team armed with information and a letter from the Synagogue.
