BAS About Us - Worship & Spirituality
First of all, welcome to Bnai Abraham's Internet site! Located in the Lehigh Valley of Eastern Pennsylvania, Bnai Abraham was founded over 100 years ago and has evolved into a modern, yet still traditional, Synagogue today. Our present Rabbi, Mark Shrager, guides Congregation Bnai Abraham with the teachings of Conservative Judaism in a very warm and caring way, and our affiliation remains with The United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism.
BAS is an egalitarian congregation of about 170 families. Men and women are encouraged to participate actively in the service and are counted toward the minyan. We have exciting additions to our Shabbat Services with members either leading services, chanting Torah or Haftorah with Rabbi Shrager's support.
Worship services are held every Thursday morning in the Chapel at 7:25am, Erev Shabbat Services are held every Friday nights at 7:30pm, and Morning Shabbat Services are at 9:30am with Kiddush following.
BAS is an active synagogue where special programs, life events, Jewish Holidays, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, Brit Milah, Baby Namings, Weddings, Anniversaries are happening and everyone is encouraged to attend and participate. Every BAS member is considered a valuable part of our family.
We welcome people from all walks of life and of all ages to join us for a Shabbat Service, attend a social event at BAS, or join BAS if you do not have a Synagogue to call home. You are welcome here. Please let us know you are coming by calling the office at (610) 258-5343 or via email, and we will have a welcome packet ready for you. If you are interested in membership, please see our Membership page.
